This week, ClearMechanic released a new feature on its mobile application permitting service centers to identify vehicle damage directly on real-time photos. With the new “pointer” feature, a ClearMechanic user can quickly drag and drop a red arrow pointing to an area of concern on a vehicle, such as worn tread, rust, leaks or cracks.
From focus groups and surveys, we know that consumers are wowed by the introduction of real-time photos in the car repair process. But a common question is, “where should I be looking on this photo?” Typically, dealer or shop personnel will explain photos over the phone. But, with the new pointer feature, a car owner can quickly understand a vehicle photo without having to wait for guidance from the dealer or shop.
After one week of usage, we are hearing anecdotally that this addition to the ClearMechanic mobile application is speeding up repair approvals and receiving high marks from consumers.
Below are examples of the new feature in action from various dealers and shops across the country.
